Chris Kelly

Chris Kelly, director of Trad on the Prom, received his first guitar from Santa Claus and has been playing music ever since.

From playing electric guitars with his brother Sean in their band "The Amigos" at the age of 12 he went on to tour the world with Ceoltoiri Magh Locha. They performed "A Taste of Ireland" in Singapore, Australia, Hawaii, Canada and the United States. It was on that world tour that Chris met his future wife Maírín.

He toured Europe, Malaysia, Japan, Australia and New Zealand with the Liffey company of Riverdance.

His love of recording saw him record, play on and produce a total of 10 albums from 1995 through 2000 including 'Blood & Gold' by Maca (the Riverdance Singers), Maírín's solo studio album, Maírín's live album, "Fresh Notes" with Iomar Barrett, Liadan, flute supremo Nial Keegan's 'Don't Touch the Elk' and both Reeltime albums.

When time allowed Chris was also the guitar tutor in the Irish Music World Academy based in Limerick University.

2004 saw Chris project managing "Tara" the critically acclaimed musical which premiered in the prestigious New Luxor Theatre in Rotterdam, Holland.

After more than a decade of constant touring Chris and Mairin decided to settle down with their son Dara in their beloved Galway.
