Following on from it's highly acclaimed run at the Salthill Hotel Galway, Trad on the Prom returns for it's third successive season begining from May the 1st and continues on a weekly basis unitl the end of September.
Losing none of it's original energy and flair, this year's production continues to enthrall the audience with world class performances of Irish music, song and dance, leading to the critics branding it as 'the best Irish show of the year'.
Trad on the Prom, true to it's name, is the best of Irish traditional live entertainment, performed in the new conference center of the Salthill Hotel, located on the seafront promenade over looking Galway Bay and the Clare Hills.
Galway’s Máirín Fahy has been an integral part of Riverdance for more than eight years. Her fiddle playing has been lauded as amazing and unique and as the featured soloist in Riverdance, has performed to more than 25 million people worldwide.
Mairins music has been featured in the Brad Pitt, Harrison Ford movie ‘The Devil’s Own’. Her two solo albums received great musical acclaim and also won “best female vocalist” award with ‘Reeltime’.
Mairin is a regular guest with the Chieftains and has toured Australia, New Zealand and America with the famous traditional Irish band . work with Riverdance she came to the attention of The Chieftains. The Irish music superstars were immediately smitten with this lady who could make the fiddle sing and asked her to join them on tour. She has also performed with the Chieftains and Art Garfunkel in Carnegie Hall.
The Trad on the Prom band comprises of the finest musicians on the Irish music scene today.The band includes Gerard Fahy on uileann pipes, Chris Kelly on guitar, Yvonne Fahy on accordion and percussion, Brendan Hayes on keyboard and guest musicians Brian Morrissey, Padraig Rynn and Kieran Munnelly on concertina, flute, banjo and additional percussion.
The Trad on the Prom dancers are lead by Cian Nolan. Cian danced alongside Michael Flatley in 'Lord of the Dance' and then performed in the lead role for more than 6 years in this record breaking show. He is now living in Limerick and is in big demand for his dance master classes.
Mary McDonagh has performed with many shows including 'Riverdance', 'Celtic Legends' and the new musical 'Tara'. Living in Galway, like Cian, she is also highly sought after for her dance classes. World champions Cathal and Fergal Keaney thrill the audience with their high energy, intricate dance routines. Nora Cannon, Rachael Keaney, Michelle Brehony, Breege Creaven, Doireann Carney and Amy O’Rourke direct from ‘Lord of the Dance’ and ‘Riverdance’ complete this world class line up of Trad on the Prom dancers.
Marc came to world wide notice when he respresented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest. He is now one of Ireland’s leading song writers and has released three highly acclaimed solo albums. He co-writes with a host of well know artists such as Brian Kennedy, Daniel O’Donnell and Nashville legend Rodney Crowell.
A native of Ballinrobe, county Mayo, Sean won the national AIMS Award for ‘Best Voice’ no fewer than six times. He is a regular soloist in the National Concert Hall, Dublin. Most recently he played the part of King Cormac in the highly acclaimed production of ‘Tara’ in the prestigious Luxor Theater, Rotterdam.
Dublin born Yvonne McMahon comes from a well reknowned musical family and has been the vocalist with Irish supergroup ‘The Chieftains’ for the last eight years. She also heads the highly successful production company Mabinog Ltd.
